Guess this board is flaky when moving around drive connections in the SATA ports.
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 – 1.0 – motherboard – ATX – Socket AM3+ – AMD 990FX
I did encounter some weirdness with giagbyte board after radi getting the array working. So, I tried “Normal” which sounds like “off” but then I noticed that only one of my two drives shows up in the list of recognized drives in the standard BIOS settings screen that lists all the drives. Only after numerous restarts, shutdowns, and complete power-off restarts, including the dreaded no post blank screen everything came up just before I was getting ready to reset CMOS.
Several more reboots did nothing to help. I tried both sets and the Intel beat the marvel or gigabyte giyabyte raid or no raid handily. November 07, I’ll try to hook up a third drive now just to see what happens.

I understand where you’re coming from but, if you have any important information stored on your HDD’s it would gigqbyte better to swap them over now rather than later on when it might be too late. Have been running for over a day now fine and everything appears solid.
I know, however, that if I add a drive to either channel, it will not show up in the BIOS – which seems wrong to me. Regular BIOS config screen also does not show drive s.

Look under integrated peripherals. This is what my first post was describing. The manual is a bit confusing about it. Windows fails to see the Arid volume. I do feel that this Marvell SATA controller is a negative aspect of this motherboard and I know from reading of other user’s experiences across the platforms that it is not highly rated. Join Date Jul Posts The above is likely true as well, I know for single drives SSD or not, the Intel controller is still faster due us5 Marvell not making drivers properly yet.
November 19, Hi there, pleased you seem to have sorted the problem. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page: Was then able to restore my original windows boot image on the the array and all is tigabyte.
You could also try AHCI since the driver ud installed.
